Frequently Asked Questions, Garment Printing & Embroidery

Section 01
Ordering & Process

We're not the cheapest, but we think we're the best. Here's what that means in practice:

  • Customer service second to none, check our reviews
  • We hand hold you through the entire process, from quote to delivery
  • No fuss policy, if there's an issue, we sort it fast at no extra cost to you
  • We can prioritise urgent orders and turn around reprints when the pressure is on

If you only want the cheapest garments and don't care about service, we're probably not for you. But if you want the best garments, best prints, best customer experience and total peace of mind, you should partner with us.

Yes, sometimes even next day. It depends on stock availability and our current workload at the time of ordering. We do our best to cater for urgent orders. Express services are offered at a premium rate, so let us know upfront what your deadline is.

Easy. You can pay online via credit card through the invoice email we send you, or EFT directly to our bank account (details on the invoice). There's a small surcharge for online payment but it speeds things up. All major credit cards are accepted.

Absolutely. We keep all artwork on file unless you tell us to delete it. Repeat orders typically attract a reduced setup fee since the screens have already been created.

Yes. Some clients create a larger order and draw it down as needed, this lets you hit the best price per item rates. The order must be paid in full upfront, and we'll store your screens ready for shorter notice printing and dispatch.

Generally no, we run around 150 screens a week, so storing them all isn't practical. Screens are reclaimed and recommissioned at the end of each print run. For regular clients ordering 200+ garments a month we do keep screens inked and ready to go. Thanks to our advanced auto coating and UV exposure units, a new screen takes about a minute to create, so screen costs on repeat orders are typically absorbed, no extra charge to you.

Section 02
Delivery & Shipping

Australia wide, every time. For Australian clients with international destinations we can also arrange worldwide delivery at an additional charge.

We use TNT as our primary carrier, we find them the most reliable end to end with excellent online tracking. Auspost is used occasionally for smaller or regional orders. Orders of 25 or fewer are sealed in waterproof bags; larger orders are boxed in solid Gildan or Anvil boxes, packed by hand with internal waterproofing. Boxes typically weigh around 12kg.

From payment confirmation to dispatch typically takes 7 to 14 business days, depending on how busy we are. Then delivery times are roughly:

  • NSW & ACT, next day
  • QLD, VIC & SA, 2 to 3 days
  • WA, NT & TAS, 3 to 10 days

We do offer expedited delivery (e.g. next day NSW to WA) at a surcharge. If you need it fast, tell us at the time of ordering.

Yes. When your order is ready for uplift we'll notify you by email with full tracking details. TNT orders are tracked via the TNT portal; Auspost orders via their tracking system.

Section 03
Artwork & Design

When an order is placed and paid for, we relinquish all rights to the design and copyright transfers to you. If we create a design and you choose not to order from us, the copyright remains with us, and we will charge for any use of that artwork without permission or payment.

Copyright always stays with you or the original copyright holder. By placing an order you're allowing us to handle the image electronically and retain a copy for future use if needed, that's all. We never share or use customer artwork for any other customer or for ourselves.

It's your responsibility to ensure you hold the legal rights to any third party images in your artwork. We can't print copyrighted logos (Coca Cola, university crests, etc.) without your having permission to use them, this is standard across the printing industry.

Yes, this is called a colour way press wash. We stop the press, wash out the ink, dry the screen and reset. There's a charge of $40 per screen for this, and we generally require a minimum of 10 garments per colour change to make it worthwhile.

Section 04
Garments & Ordering

No, we only print on garments we supply. A few reasons:

  • Garment quality and cotton/poly content varies widely; we only print on what we've vetted
  • Retail brands often don't permit printers to print on them
  • You won't get the wholesale pricing we access through volume buying
  • If there's any spoilage on press, we need stock to replace it with

In rare cases where you've already purchased stock we may make an exception, but we'll usually ask you to return it, get a refund and order through us. You'll likely end up with more money back in your pocket.

Yes, you can spread your order across all available sizes. Standard sizes are XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL and 3XL. Some garments in some colours also come in 4XL and 5XL. Note there's a manufacturer's surcharge on the larger sizes, and a sizing margin of error of approximately 2cm.

As many as you like, as long as at least one garment type meets the minimum order quantity. For example: 30 tees, 5 hoodies, 7 crop tees and 2 tanks is perfectly fine as a single order.

Yes. Orders with more than 5 to 6 different garment colours do attract a surcharge. When mixing garment colours, keep in mind whether your ink colours will work across all of them, changing ink colour costs $40 per screen per change.

Absolutely, men's, women's, youth and kids' down to size 2. For garments below size 8, a minimum additional order quantity of 20 garments applies.

We don't offer printed samples of customer artwork, printing requires a full setup to run even one garment, which makes it too expensive. We do produce digital mockups as part of the quotation process; these are accurate representations of the final product.

For larger orders, we can provide printed samples of our own designs on high end garments to help you feel the quality. These can also be purchased for smaller orders.

Section 05
Pricing & Policy

We keep our overheads lean, and honestly, we're not in it purely for the money. We make enough to support ourselves and contribute to organisations like Compassion Australia and the Barnabas Fund for Persecuted Christians. Customers quickly realise the value in a well priced garment from us. Generally we're around 35% cheaper than most competitors, sometimes considerably more.

Printing is an industrial process and a small amount of spoilage is industry standard. In line with industry norms, Ministry of Shirts is not responsible for loss of product within a 2% deviation per production job (rounded to the nearest whole number). In practice our actual spoilage rate is considerably lower than 2%. We recommend including a 2% buffer in your order quantities as a precaution.

Our products are custom printed and have no resale value, so we don't accept returns unless the garments themselves are faulty. In those rare cases we reserve the right to replace the faulty goods only. Our trading policies are fully compliant with NSW Department of Fair Trading requirements, see fairtrading.nsw.gov.au for details.

100% yes. We're in Armidale in the New England region of New South Wales, a dry, arid climate that doesn't get too hot but gets well below zero in winter. As it turns out, perfect conditions for printing.
